Dozens of recruiters from regional and national accounting firms met with Elon students Monday evening in the Koury Business Center in what has become one of the largest events of the year for the Beta Alpha Psi finance and accounting honors organization.

An estimated 100 students, dressed in formal business attire, crowded the first floor hall on Sept. 15. And several firms brought with them Elon alumni who now work in the profession.
“Our students do well in this environment,” said Art Cassill, a professor of accounting and chair of the department. “They look the part, they dress the part, they have all the intangibles employees look for … And our students have been successful in these jobs or the firms wouldn’t be back.”
Beta Alpha Psi leaders said the turnout was even better than expected, as many students in attendance were unaffiliated with the organization.
“This is exactly what we wanted. Everyone is busy talking with someone else,” said Beta Alpha Psi president Garrett Pittenger, a senior accounting and finance major from New Jersey. “It’s a testament to the competitiveness and drive of Elon students.”
Recruiters also had positive reactions to the program.
“I can see how much the program has grown in the past couple of years,” said Don McBane, with Cobb Ezekiel Loy & Company, an accounting firm in Alamance County. “Certainly Elon is a school we’d love to draw from when we have openings.”
