Homecoming weekend provided two opportunities for LSM alumni to revisit college friends and their favorite faculty – first, at an open house on Friday afternoon in the Holland House and again on Saturday at the annual LSM tailgate before the Homecoming football game against Western Carolina.
Most of the graduates returning were from classes that commenced less than five years ago, so many were good friends of students currently in the program.
At the open house, several alumni shared their first-year-out-of college experiences with Jim Drummond, chair of the Department of Leisure & Sport Management, and offered advice to future graduates. For the students who attended, the event offered them a chance to ask questions and learn about different avenues their career paths could take.
Turnout for the tailgate included more alums and all of the faculty, who helped grill and eat hamburgers. Students also stopped by the tent for conversation and free food.
Engaging banter and ringing laughter could be heard from young and experienced voices alike as everyone caught up with each other’s lives. Near the tent, a cover band offered entertaining songs from yesteryear and today. After the tailgate, many attended the Phoenix vs. Catamounts football game to cheer on the Phoenix’s win.
