Stephen Ross ’73 elected Burlington mayor

Stephen Ross, a 1973 alumnus, was elected mayor of Burlington in the Nov. 4 election.

Ross, a city council member, garnered 2,393 votes to defeat incumbent Joe Barbour, who finished with 1,299 votes.

A member of Elon’s National Alumni Executive Board, Ross chairs the board’s development committee. His election platform calls for better cooperation between city government and the business community, and raising Burlington’s profile as a member of the Piedmont Triad region.

In Town of Elon elections, Ron Klepcyk, the university’s direction of human resources, was re-elected to the Board of Aldermen. Klepcyk and fellow incumbents Lawrence Slade and Ed Swing ran unopposed in the election.
