We learned this week of the passing of Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity International and more recently, the Fuller Center for Housing. Fuller was on our campus last February and in his evening address, classroom visits, and Chapel comments he inspired many to consider the joy of serving others. His life legacy is a testament of service to humankind.
Fuller received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, and was awarded an honorary doctorate during a previous visit to Elon in 1995.
University Chaplain Richard McBride, Assistant Chaplain Phil Smith, and Robin Wintringham, director of Habitat For Humanity of Alamance County, will share about places and times where they encountered Fuller and the impact he had on their lives and on the lives of hundreds of thousands who benefited from decent housing as a result of his vision and dedication.
