Approximately 60 Elon University physical therapy alumni and their families came back to campus over the weekend to reunite with friends and faculty.
On Friday, alumni attended an all-day continuing education course presented by Dr. Gray Carpenter and Dr. Deborah Stetts; Manual Physical Therapy Examination and Treatment of the Lower Quarter of the Aging Adult with Emphasis on Spinal Stenosis and Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis.
Other activities included: a program update, an alumni organizational meeting, Center for Fitness and Human Movement Studies open house, outdoor activities and dinner. The event was coordinated by the Department of Physical Therapy Education and Office of Alumni Relations.
Attending the celebration were alumni from each graduating class from 2000 (charter class) though 2008. The Physical Therapy program has a total of 319 alumni and transitioned from a Masters of Physical Therapy to a doctoral program in 2005.
Alumni accomplishments since graduation include: residency training, PhD completion, clinic ownership, American Physical Therapy Association specialty certifications in pediatrics, orthopedics, neurology and electrophysiology, vestibular rehabilitation certification, clinical instructor certification and an alumnus competed in the Beijing Olympics.
