The LSM Society managed and staffed the concession operation at the SAS – Champions Tour PGA Golf Tournament in Cary, N.C., at Prestonwood Country Club from Sept. 23-27, 2009, marking the fifth consecutive year that students from the LSM program have worked this event.
This year’s efforts resulted in raising nearly $2,200. Over the past five years the club has raised almost $8,000 working this tournament.
Funds are primarily used for the professional development of student majors and minors and to support the department’s endowed scholarship drive. LSM students teamed up once again this year with several Elon alumni, including a recent graduate of the Elon University School of Law.
Staffing efforts were bolstered by several students from the sport management program at Winston-Salem State University, helping out with the 128 volunteers needed for this event.
