Omri Shimron, assistant professor of music, presented a lecture-recital at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (a division of Hebrew University) in Israel on Jan. 4.
The presentation, which included analytical commentary in Hebrew and a performance of a new work for solo piano titled “Metamorphosis II,” is an adaptation of his lecture-recital for College Music Society National Conference in Portland, Oregon, from October 2009.
Prior to this current presentation, Shimron had a 2-hour, one-on-one session with the composer Menachem Wiesenberg during which he received firsthand feedback on interpretation and performance, as well as information on the piece’s genesis and structure.
