Sophie Adamson, assistant professor of French, and Paul Geis, assistant director for affiliations and exchanges, spoke at the spring meeting of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French.
Adamson presented “Plantu as Pedagogue: The Draw of His Editorial Cartoons in the Classroom.” Plantu is the editorial cartoonist of Le Monde newspaper in France. Adamson, who has interviewed the artist, highlighted ways to promote critical thinking in the classroom by incorporating Plantu’s images into coursework.
Geis was the keynote speaker and presented “Study Abroad in the Francophone World: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, and Where We Are Heading.” He addressed the challenges and opportunities for study abroad in France and the broader Francophone world.
