The Warners, faculty members in the Department of Human Service Studies, received the Alamance County Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service 2010 in the team/group category in the area of special events. They have volunteered with the community center for two years.

“Beth and Bud Warner foster a sense of giving back to the community that is contagious among those they work with,” April Durr, director of Healthy Alamance, wrote in a nomination letter. “This couple has given numerous hours of time and countless bouts of expertise to the Mayco Bigelow Community Center and North Park.

“Despite having demanding full time positions with Elon University they have graciously given themselves to a cause they believe in and that is evident in the volunteer work they do. Their efforts have made a tremendous difference both in the community surrounding the facility and the facility itself.”
