From the Fayetteville Observer (5/23/10): The students in Ed Johnson and Dan Maynard's research class at Campbell University have done the people of North Carolina a favor.
They’ve helped keep a spotlight on how poorly officials comply with the state’s public records law.
The 10 students in the class, which includes Christina Harris of Hope Mills, a graduate of South View High School, recently released the results of a compliance study they’ve been working on.
I was invited to sit on a discussion panel about their work along with Hugh Stevens, a First Amendment and media lawyer from Raleigh, and Joseph Coletti of the John Locke Foundation, a think tank with an interest in open government.
