Crystal Anderson to serve as Faculty Fellow for the Multicultural Center

Crystal Anderson will serve as Elon’s first faculty fellow for the Multicultural Center beginning with the 2010-2011 academic year.

Anderson came to Elon in 2008 and is currently an associate professor in the Department of English and coordinator of the American Studies program. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond where she majored in English and minored in Women’s Studies and Greek.

Anderson earned her Master of Arts in English at the University of Virginia and her Ph.D. at the College of William & Mary, where she studied American literature with concentrations in African American and U.S. Latino literature. She is an active scholar, most recently publishing in the area of Afro Asian cultural studies.

At Elon, in addition to coordinating the American Studies program, Anderson serves as a faculty affiliate to Asian studies and the Center for Law and Humanities.

In her new role as a Faculty Fellow for the Multicultural Center, she will bring significant experience in integrating multicultural education in the undergraduate experience, as well as co-curricular links between multiculturalism and student learning.
