Pamela Winfield was named to the Board of Directors of the Association of Religion and Intellectual Life (ARIL) this summer. This is the governing board that has ultimate responsibility for all the activity of ARIL, which includes the publication of CrossCurrents journal, an annual summer research colloquium in New York as well as occasional programs made possible by additional fund raising activity.
Winfield was selected and confirmed by the board on July 13, 2010. As a former colloquium fellow, female scholar of non-western religions and member of the CrossCurrents editorial board, Winfield simultaneously diversifies the makeup of the board while also consolidating oversight of the association’s publishing and scholarly activities. In merging the governing and editorial boards in this way, ARIL now has “one, unified board that gives oversight to all that we do.”
Winfield will assume the duties of her new role with a teleconferenced virtual board meeting in October and the annual board meeting in New York in February.
