Elon University junior Tara Nager received the "Volunteer of the Year" Award from the Salvation Army's Boys & Girls Clubs of Burlington during the organization's recent Steak & Steak Dinner.
The human service studies major from Hudson, N.H., is in her third year volunteering with the Boys & Girls Clubs. Nager currently serves as a LINCS coordinator for the nonprofit through the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement.
The annual dinner recognizes sponsors of the Boys & Girls Club, as well as children and volunteers.
“Tara has been a loyal and consistent volunteer who has put in volunteer hours beyond what she is expected to complete,” said Sherri Henderson, director of the Boys & Girls Club. “She is willing to go the extra mile without being asked. This is why the staff at the Boys & Girls Club found it appropriate to recognize Tara for her selfless service to this organization. We are thankful to have her as a part of our team.”
