Paul Parsons, professor and dean of the School of Communications, has conducted program reviews at three Middle Eastern universities in the past three years.
Parsons completed a curriculum review this month for the Mass Communication program at Qatar University, which intends to seek U.S.-based accreditation in 2013.
In 2009, Parsons and another dean spent a week at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, conducting a similar program review. In 2007, Parsons spent a week in Kuwait City, reviewing the Mass Communication program at Kuwait University.
All the program reviews were on behalf of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC), which is the accrediting body for communications schools worldwide. Parsons regularly chairs accreditation site teams and previously served three years on the Accrediting Council.
Elon is one of only 18 private universities in the United States with a nationally accredited School of Communications.
