The spring 2011 POWERless Energy Competition is now entering its final stretch, and results are in for the first three weeks of the four-week competition. Elon has posted a 6.2 percent energy reduction to date in the competition with the goal of reaching a 10 percent overall decrease.
Results by competition category are as follows:
Buildings Division I: The Oaks Building F continues to be at the top of the list, posting a reduction of 8.8%. Oaks Building B trails with a 7.8% reduction, and the three buildings of Story Center (Chandler, Maynard and Colclough) posted reductions of 6.8%, 6.5% and 6%, respectively.
Buildings Division II: For the second week in a row, every building in the top 10 has exceeded the campus-wide goal of a 10% reduction. For the third week in a row Academic Village Kenan Honors Pavilion leads the division with a reduction of 19.7%, though the Academic Village Isabella Cannon International Pavilion is looking to take over the lead, with a reduction of 19.6%.
Areas Division I: North Area has taken the lead this week, posting a reduction of 5.10%, just enough to slide past The Oaks and their 5.06% reduction.
Areas Division II: For the third week in a row, two of the three areas in this division (Academic Village Pavilions and Loy Center) have shown reductions exceeding the campus-wide goal, with results of 19.7% and 11.8%, respectively. Danieley Center follows closely with a 8.2% reduction.
Don’t forget to “Commit to Reduce” on the Building Dashboard to be entered into a prize drawing that will take place at the end of the competition for two bikes and two Phoenix cash prizes.
