After a month-long search, CELEBRATE! organizers have unveiled a new logo for the weeklong celebration that highlights student achievements in academics and the arts.
Event organizers launched a logo competition in February asking students to submit their original designs. After reviewing close to 40 submissions, organizers picked sophomore Brent Edwards’ logo as the winner.
“My intention for the logo was to create something that captured the spirit of the program while maintaining a clean, crisp appearance,” says Edwards, a media arts and entertainment major. “The result is something I believe captures the essence of Elon in a modern way.”
Angela Lewellyn Jones, associate dean of the Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences who is coordinating the event, says they wanted something fresh and new since this year marks the fifth year for CELEBRATE!
“I think Brent did a very, very good job trying to represent all the facets of Elon,” Jones says. “I think it’s going to be fun for him to see his logo being used for the next three years of his Elon career.”
Each year, hundreds of Elon University students are involved in activities during CELEBRATE!, which brings together the Spring Undergraduate Research Forum (SURF), the Annual Awards Day Ceremony sponsored by Omicron Delta Kappa and many other events, including seminars, presentations, art exhibitions, plays, student showcases, dance and music performances.
This year CELEBRATE! starts April 26 and ends May 2. The first 100 students to arrive at McKinnon Hall for the Celebration of Faculty Scholarship on Wednesday, April 27, at 9 a.m. will receive a free CELEBRATE! T-shirt featuring the new logo.
