Mary Jo Festle, Professor of History, has been named the new Associate Director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Festle has a deep record of excellence as a teacher-scholar. Dr. Festle received the 2004 Elon College Excellence in Teaching Award and a 2008-2010 Elon University Senior Faculty Research Fellowship. She also has directed the Honors Program, chaired the search committee for the Dean of Elon College, and currently is chair of the pedagogy and curriculum subcommittee of the Presidential Diversity Council. Dr. Festle has taught at Elon since 1993, during which time she has published one book and many scholarly articles. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Knox College, and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Dr. Festle will begin her 4-year term as one of the Center’s associate directors at the start of the Fall 2011 semester.
