Elon Law featured in News & Record report on downtown Greensboro

The May 5 edition of the News & Record features Elon University School of Law for its contributions to the economic growth and vitality of downtown Greensboro. The article reports on downtown Greensboro's comparatively strong economic growth indicators, noting Elon's recent purchase of property in the area and the university's plans to expand facilities for the law school.

The article, titled, “Center City Poised for Stronger Growth,” quotes law school dean George R. Johnson, Jr.

“It’s a particularly exciting time for the law school, but I think it’s also an exciting time for Downtown,” Johnson says. “We will take some facilities that are currently not in use and turn them into vibrant sources of activity.”

The article also references Elon Law’s Preceptor Program, through which accomplished attorneys mentor law students.

“Locating the law school Downtown has been mutually beneficial, [Johnson] notes. Proximity to the courts and lawyers, who volunteer as mentors, enriches the experience, while the amenities attract students who shop and often live here,” the article states.

The News & Record report featuring Elon Law is one story in a special section on downtown Greensboro included in today’s edition of the newspaper.
