As the assistant director of Urban Promise Ministry's Camp Saved, Laura Dellicker '12 works hard to put smiles on the faces of underprivileged children in Camden, N.J., a poverty-stricken suburb of Philadelphia. In her second year working with Urban Promise, Dellicker blogs about her experiences at http://encounteringjoy.wordpress.com.
“While I have never lived in a place as dangerous and poverty-stricken as Camden, I have also never lived in a place so full of life, laughter and joy,” Dellicker says on the blog.
Elon’s Office of Alumni Engagement recently contributed to that life, laughter and joy this summer, sending boxes full of arts and crafts supplies to Camp Saved, a day camp for first through fourth graders. See photos of the children enjoying sand art, coloring books and more in this post from Dellicker’s blog.
