The Quartet will play a mixed program of classical, contemporary and jazz pieces with a range from Piazzolla and Shostakovich to Lennon/McCartney, Brubeck and Chick Corea. The performance intends to put a new spin on traditional sound and will also include original work from the ensemble’s founder, Jeremy Cohen.
About the Quartet
Founded in 2001, the Quartet San Francisco is known for their nontraditional delivery, redefining the sound of chamber music. Members include: violinists Jeremy Cohen, Alisa Rose, Keith Lawrence, and cellist Michelle Kwon (who joined the quartet for the current international tour). As crossover specialists, Quartet San Francisco is experienced in multiple styles including jazz, tango, pop, funk, blues, bluegrass, gypsy swing, big band and beyond. Since its debut, Quartet San Francisco has performed for national and international audiences in a variety of venues including tango and concert halls, jazz festivals, museums and classrooms. Their Latin and tango CD, Látigo (2006), was honored with Grammy nominations. The quartet members were again Grammy nominees for Whirled Chamber Music (2007) and QSF Plays Brubeck (2009).
