“(Doug) has created incredibly successful campaigns for multiple franchises worldwide,” MGM Co-Chairman Gary Barber and Chief Executive Officer Roger Birnbaum said in a statement announcing Finberg’s hiring. “We think he is ideal to lead the marketing charge as MGM continues to move forward.”

Finberg will handle all marketing-related matters and publicity efforts for the studio. He joins MGM from Finberg Worldwide, a consulting company he founded that specializes in entertainment and brand marketing, distribution, event strategy and services.

Prior to launching Finberg Worldwide, he served as vice president of international marketing at Marvel Studios; senior vice president of international marketing for Paramount Pictures International; and international marketing/creative executive for DreamWorks SKG. Earlier in his career, Finberg held positions at Lucasfilm, Ltd., and MGM/United Artists and served as a consultant for United Pictures International.

Finberg graduated cum laude from Elon in 1994 with a degree in communications. He later attended classes at the University of California, Los Angeles and the American Film Institute. In May 2008, he returned to campus to deliver the keynote address at Elon’s 118th Commencement Exercises.
