Megan Squire, associate professor of computing sciences, and Carter Kozak '13 have published work titled "A secondary data archive for code-level Debian metrics."
This work was presented at the Second International Workshop on Replication in Empirical Software Engineering Research (RESER), held in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
Part of Empirical Software Engineering International Week, the RESER conference was held Sept. 21 and included researchers who work in the realm of producing replicable studies of software engineering research. Because software development is a socio-technical process, replicating the results from empirically-based software engineering research can be a challenge. Squire and Kozak proposed a way to collect, calculate, and disseminate code-level metrics for the Debian Linux distribution, usually considered the largest Linux distribution, and perhaps the largest software project ever constructed.
