Trustee emeritus Elmon T. Gray died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011.
There will be a private graveside service. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the chapel on the campus of Virginia Military Institute.
Gray, a 1946 graduate of Virginia Military Institute, served on the Elon University Board of Trustees from 1990 until 1999 before being named trustee emeritus. He served five terms in the Virginia Senate from 1972-1992.
Gray and his wife, Pamela, made a substantial gift to name the Gray pavilion, home of the political science department, in honor of his grandparents, Ella Darden and Elmon Lee Gray.
