Elon’s chapter of Student Entrepreneurial Enterprise Development (SEED) and the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership are sponsoring several events to promote entrepreneurial thinking across campus during Global Entrepreneurship Week, which begins November 14th.
Students from all majors are welcome to participate, as entrepreneurship is something that can be utilized in any career. “By bringing in speakers who have taken their passions and created successful businesses out of them, SEED hopes to inspire students to create value by following their passions,” said Alex Carberry ’12, president of SEED.
Monday, November 14 at 4:15 p.m. in LaRose Digital Theatre
Mike Nelson, co-founder and CEO of Nelson Levine de Luca & Horst, L.L.C., will focus on the challenges, successes and failures he and his founding partners experienced when founding and running their firm, without any formal training in startups or small business creation. He will highlight common flaws lawyers have as businessmen and self-entrepreneurs and will also provide tips for aspiring students who are seeking a potential career in law.
Tuesday, November 15th at 4:15 p.m. in KoBC 211
Idea Launch Pad, invites students to share their concepts in a public forum. No business plan is needed and no data analysis required, just ideas. Students with an idea for a venture can present the concept for review by their peers and Elon professors. Those without a concept are encouraged to attend, with the opportunity to join with one of the presented ideas.

Awards for the Elon Innovation Challenge will be distributed. The Elon Innovation Challenge is a fast-paced competition that challenges student teams to use their creativity to add value using an everyday item. Visit eloninnovation.org for more information.
Thursday, November 17th at 4:15 p.m. in LaRose Digital Theatre
Daniel Carlin, M.D., founder and CEO of WorldClinic, and a physician and entrepreneur, will be sharing his 15-year experience working in the worlds of clinical medicine, IT and running a successful business. He will be summarizing the unique benefits and obstacles for any professional wishing to become an entrepreneur.
