School of Communications assistant professor Phillip Motley and associate professor Amanda Sturgill each presented work at the International Association for Research in Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (IARSLCE) annual conference Nov. 2-4 in Chicago.
Both Motley’s paper, “Affordances of International Serice-Learning: Enhancing Learning Through Authenticity and Autonomy,” and Sturgill’s, “Methods of Reflection about Service Learning Experiences: Guided vs. Free, Public vs. Private, and Dialogic vs. Expressive,” related to work conducted during the Elon Interactive Media master’s program’s winter term Fly-In projects in Central America.
IARSLCE drew more than 500 participants from 14 countries to listen to presentations of new research in service learning.
