From the Sanford Herald (1/24/12): The Lee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved at its meeting Monday for County Attorney Dale Talbert to spend one month fine-tuning the public records policy that the board amended Nov. 14.
Under new business on Monday’s agenda was a request from Talbert and County Manager John Crumpton for the board to consider clarifying some of the language in the amended public records request policy. At the Nov. 14 meeting, the board unanimously approved implementing a 4-cent per page fee on requests totaling 25 pages or more, as well as charges reflecting the actual labor cost of county employees handling requests “of a large or complicated nature.”
Since the board approved the amended policy, Talbert said the administration had to make some assumptions in implementing it.
“In making those amendments, I saw that it created some internal inconsistencies,” Talbert said.
