Alan Wooten '87 has been hired to lead the Henderson Daily Dispatch, which serves Vance, Granville and Warren counties in North Carolina.
Wooten joins The Daily Dispatch after serving as editor of the Ashe Mountain Times in West Jefferson, N.C. A native of Farmville, N.C., Wooten has worked for several newspapers around the state, including the New Bern Sun Journal, Kinston Free Press, Wilson Times, Jacksonville Daily News and Greenville Daily Reflector.
“It is my belief the community newspaper is very much alive,” Wooten said in an April 13 article in The Daily Dispatch announcing his hiring. “We’re changing and adapting to meet the needs of our community, as newspapers have with other technological advances for more than 100 years. What does not change is our goal and effort to be the best source of news and information for this area.”
