Education professor Cherrel Miller Dyce and eight of her Elementary Education student teachers participated in the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Triad Teacher as Researcher Conference on April 25, 2012.
Chelsea Gund, Quin Bergh, Mallory Hinzman, Julia Nelson, Katie Boringa, Lauren Carrico, and Ashley Gill presented their findings regarding the importance of integrating multicultural literature within content areas-language arts, science, and mathematics. The student teachers shared with fellow researchers, teachers, and administrators from across the Triad their research that underscored the importance of being aware of diversity within the classroom and how to consistently practice culturally relevant teaching with all students. The Elon students enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to be a part of such a fantastic event and came away with valuable knowledge on various topics covered throughout the conference.
