Interactive Media master’s alumna Rachel Johnson ’12 participated in a panel discussion at the Global Studies Association’s 2012 Conference on Global Rebellion and Dystopia at the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada.
The panel, which she sat on with two others, was titled “Cyber Rebellions, Social Media, and the Struggle for Democracy.” Her research, “Social media democracy in Latin America,” was developed in the course Special Topics in Interactivity, taught by Communications assistant professor Derek Lackaff.
Johnson, from Fort Collins, Colo., gained her undergraduate degree in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Mississippi. Read more about her experience presenting at the GSA Conference on her blog.
