Monday, October 1 – Tuesday, October 30
Fabian Winkler and Shannon McMullen, The National Security Garden Project
opening reception, Arts West, 12:30 p.m.
artist talk, Yeager Recital Hall, 5:30 p.m.
A series of art installations and discursive interventions focused on soybean plants symbolize ways in which industrial agriculture, biotechnology, climate change and national security are ever more connected. The intent is to place soybeans more vividly in the cultural imagination of viewers by providing a form and experience that question how biotechnological and monocultural agriculture shape, reject or revise ideas of national security and farming in a global context. Exhibition continues through October 30.
