Michael Vaughn, Instructional Technologist Michael Vaughn is originally from Kent, Ohio and previously worked at Kent State University and Cuyahoga Community College. He also is self-employed as a comedic social media awareness presenter. When he is not working, Michael spends his time learning how to use new technologies. He is excited to be at Elon since faculty and staff have “so much freedom to incorporate new ideas with technology.” Michael looks forward to coming to work every day, knowing that if someone on campus wants to make something happen technologically, he can help in achieving that goal. |

Jeremy Bowersox, Greek Life Intern Jeremy Bowersox is originally from Northfield, Ohio and comes to Elon after receiving a bachelor’s degree in music from Heidelberg University. Jeremy also previously worked at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio as well as Geagua Lake and Wildwater Kingdom in Aurora, Ohio. Currently, in addition to working in the Office of Greek Life, Jeremy is pursuing a master’s degree in college student development from Appalachian State University, which he will complete in May. In his free time, Jeremy enjoys relaxing, hanging out at amusement parks and riding roller coasters. |

Bradley Sherrod, Assistant Football Coach Defensive Coordinator Bradley Sherrod, a native of Monroe, previously studied at Duke University and worked at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, East Tennessee State University, Duke University, Western Carolina University and University of Delaware. Now at Elon, he is excited to be at a great academic university and work with a talented group of coaches. At home, he enjoys his family, including his wife, Dr. Monique Clinton-Sherrod, and their children, Elijah and Angelena. In his free time, Bradley reads autobiographies on political figures. |

Beth Evans, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Exercise Science Beth Evans is originally from Memphis, Tenn. and received her bachelor’s degree in physics from Rhodes College and her master’s degree in exercise and sport science and her doctorate in human movement science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before starting graduate school, Beth worked as a research assistant in the radiation oncology at Duke University Medical Center from 2003 to 2006. During the 2011-12 academic year, she was a part-time lecturer in exercise and sport science at UNC-Chapel Hill. She and her husband, Ben, an assistant professor in physics, have been married since 2003. They have two daughters, Ally, who is 3, and Amelia who is 9 months old. In her free time, Beth enjoys reading, running, spending time with friends and family and playing music at church. She is excited to be at Elon because she also attended a liberal arts college during her undergraduate years. |

Henry O’Neil Johnston, Police Officer Henry O’Neil Johnston is originally from Eden and comes to Elon with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He lives with his wife, Meredith Craig Johnston, and their two dogs and one cat. In his free time, he enjoys participating in CrossFit, playing guitar, playing sports and fishing. Henry likes Elon’s beautiful campus and surrounding areas. He is excited to be a part of the school’s rapid growth. |

Judith Victoria Embler, Housekeeper Judith Embler comes to Elon University, by the suggestion of another Elon employee, after working for Airmark. She lives with her mother, Judy, and their two dogs in Burlington. In her free time, she enjoys camping and fishing. |

Diana Prieto Vinas, Assistant Director of the Spanish Center Diana Vinas is originally from Palencia, Spain, and recently returned to Elon. She is excited to be back because Elon has provided her with tremendous professional and personal growth. Diana has a degree in English and a teaching certificate. Prior to returning to Elon, she was an English teacher. In her free time she enjoys music, movies, traveling and spending time with her mother, Trini, father, Isidro, and sister, Naiara. |

Rosie Towchik, Assistant Director of Residence Life Rosie Towchik, who is from Pittsburgh, will graduate from Elon in May with a double major in anthropology and religious studies. As an undergraduate, she has worked in Residence Life and in the Kernodle Center. She also was a teaching assistant in the anthropology department and Elon 101 program. She is preparing to transition to Teach for America next year with plans of working in New Orleans. She enjoys attending Elon athletic events, especially men’s and women’s basketball. She is finishing her Elon College Fellows research on fantasy football and identity. |

Robert Ford, Custodian Robert Ford, a retired probation officer originally from Newton, attended Guilford Technical Community College for criminal justice training and to receive his Basic Law Enforcement Training certification. He served in the Navy during Vietnam and attended electronic/communication school and trained as a teletype operator. He and his wife, Wanda C. Ford, enjoy traveling. He also has two daughters, Margo Ford-Holman and Treena K. Jackson. In his spare time, Robert enjoys hunting, movies and building computers. |

Tina Kissell, Assistant Coordinator of Disabilities Services Tina Kissell spent 32 years working in public education as a school psychologist, at-risk counselor and administrator for student services. She received her bachelor’s degree in social psychology and counseling from Juanita College, a master’s degree in education with a specialty in school psychology from Bucknell University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership and cultural foundations from UNC-Greensboro. Tina is originally from Biscoe. She enjoys spending with time her husband, Larry, and daughters, Jenny, 22, and Aspen, 20. She has four dogs, Surry, Bella, Bailey and Oreo. She likes working out and outdoor activities. |

Elon’s Newest Arrivals
- Barbara Miller, associate professor of communications, and her husband, Kenn Gaither, associate dean of the School of Communications, welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Emmeline Hope Gaither on Jan. 15.
- Buffie Longmire-Avital, assistant professor of psychology, and her husband, Nadav Avital welcomed the arrival of their son, Noam Paul Avital on Jan. 19. Noam, which means “pleasantness” in Hebrew, joined big brother, Micah.
- Amy Johnson, assistant professor of history, and her husband, Alex, welcomed the arrival of their son, Isaac who was born Jan. 23. He joins siblings, Elijah and Eden.
- Syretta Oliver, a technology support specialist, and her husband, Marshall Oliver, welcomed the arrival of their son, Josiah Marshall Oliver, in February.
- Drew Perry, associate professor of English, and his wife, Tita Ramirez, welcomed their son, Nicolás Raymond Ramirez-Perry on Feb. 10. Nicolás joins brother, Tomás.
- Greg Hlavaty, an English lecturer, and his wife, Jenn, welcomed their son, Sylvan March 13. Sylvan joins big brother, Rowan.
