Elon University is creating a team that will begin a dialogue about how to coordinate and strengthen existing campus efforts, as well as consider other strategies to address issues of hunger locally, regionally and internationally.
The program sponsored by NC Campus Compact, Stop Hunger Now, and N.C. State University’s Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service is an opportunity to build a local campus dialogue. The October 10-11 Summit, which will be held on Elon’s campus, will review:
· How higher education institutions can impact fundamental and systemic issues related to hunger (e.g., research, teaching, engagement)
· Best practices that can inform and inspire our practice
· Build significant collaborations that leverage the strengths and resources of North Carolina campuses to address food insecurity.
The Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement is offering three student scholarships to attend the conference from 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.
All interested students should complete the application and submit it to the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement by Wednesday, September 26.
Send completed applications to lotos@elon.edu.
