Faculty or staff interested in interacting with students more can participate in the Take a Student to Lunch program during Winter Term.
Any faculty or staff member can use the program to invite one or two students to have a meal, snack or coffee in an approved location, including Irazu Coffee Shop, Acorn Coffee Shop, Varsity Sports Grille, Octagon, upstairs in McEwen Dining Hall and upstairs in Colonnades Dining Hall.
Faculty and staff participating just need to let the cashier know they are using the Take a Student to Lunch program. When they present their Phoenix cards for verification, the cashier will swipe the faculty/staff member’s card and the student’s card but no one will be charged.
The hope is that the interaction will give faculty, staff and students a chance to discuss projects and get to know one another better.
Participants are limited to two meals during the Winter Term. A staff member can take two students separately to a meal on different occasions or can share a meal with two students at the same time.
The program is in its eighth year. In the fall semester, 293 faculty and staff members and 460 students participated in the program.
