Eight members of elondocs, the documentary film production program housed in the School of Communications, attended the 16th annual Full Frame Documentary Film Festival April 12-13 in Durham, N.C.

Along with watching feature-length and short documentaries, students Mason Sklut, Devon Gailey, Emma Kwiatkowski, Mary Johnson, Bia Jurema, Sean Dolan, Katherine Wise, Heather Cassano, Oliva Pohl and faculty adviser Nicole Triche attended special Full Frame Fellows’ presentations by documentarians Alan Berliner and Julie Goldman. The group also met several filmmakers at the festival’s opening night party and awards barbecue.

“The main thing I learned at the festival, through panels with filmmakers and the Q&A sessions, was the best way to make a documentary is to just do it,” Cassano said. “Sometimes I have a lot of trouble getting started on my projects, and it was inspiring to hear from filmmakers about their challenges as well.”
