The popular events run from Aug. 20–Sept. 29 in cities around the nation.
“We began these events as an opportunity for recent graduates to get acquainted with their local network of Elon alumni, but the scope of the events has really grown,” says Amanda Robinson, Elon’s coordinator of regional alumni engagement.
“Our chapters and clubs are finding that Welcome to the City & Alumni Network is the perfect way to reconnect with all alumni, not just recent graduates. These events are a great way to meet other local alumni, learn what the chapters and clubs are up to in the coming year, and find out more about staying involved.”
The series began with two successful outings on Aug. 20. Several Elon alumni gathered for an event hosted by the recently launched Orlando alumni club, and attendance at the Charlotte event doubled from 45 attendees last year to more than 100 this year. Event format varies by city, with Baltimore hosting a crab feast, Seattle attending a major league baseball game, and many groups meeting at local restaurants.
