An award-winning photographer visits campus this month for a public talk about her work for media organizations including The New York Times, New Yorker, Time and Le Monde.
Shiho Fukada will share stories of her work on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. in McEwen (School of Communications) room 011.
Fukada visits campus as part of the university’s relationship with the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, and hers is the third visit by a professional journalist sponsored by the center. Fukada won the grand prize in 2008 for Editor and Publisher’s photo of the year program.
Shiho Fukada is a freelance photographer traveling between Beijing, Tokyo, and New York. She is a native of Tokyo, Japan with a degree in English literature, who worked in the fashion and advertising industries in New York before becoming a photojournalist. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, Time, New Yorker, Stern, Le Monde, New York Magazine, GEO among others.
She has also received grants from Alicia Patterson Fellowship and Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting.
