Professor of Music Thomas Erdmann in the music department had an article and CD review published in the June 2014 issue of the International Trumpet Guild Journal. The article is on New York based trumpeter Peter Evans.
Evans is perhaps the only trumpeter who continually plays in the classical, jazz, and commercial music worlds. He has recorded extremely difficult modern classical music on John Zorn’s Tzadik label (as well as the music of Iannis Xanakis with the International Contemporary Ensemble and with various old-school chamber orchestras throughout New York), free-jazz with the king of the genre Evan Parker, and played commercial music with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Erdmann’s CD review is of Randy Brecker’s new CD/DVD combo, The Brecker Brothers Band Reunion.
