Christopher Anglin L’11, Mital Patel L’09 and Elon Law Professor Hannah Vaughan, director of the law school’s Elder Law Clinic, were among 16 attorneys recognized in June for completion of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Leadership Academy.
The Leadership Academy was implemented in 2011 by the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA). “The mission of the Leadership Academy is to help young lawyers become more effective leaders in their communities, whether their communities be the legal profession, their firms, legal departments and any other organizations with which they are associated, or their local, state, national or even international communities, or any other environments where lawyers regularly have calls or opportunities for leadership,” the NCBA website states.
Christopher Anglin L’11 is the managing member of Anglin Law Firm in Raleigh, N.C., focusing his practice in criminal law and personal injury fields, as well as civil litigation, business and commercial litigation, wills and estates, real estate transactions, employment law, Medicaid practice, and oil and gas (fracking) property negotiations.
Mital Patel L’09 operates his own law firm in Raleigh, N.C., Triangle Business Law. He has been instrumental in cultivating the entrepreneurial ecosystem in North Carolina. In 2013, Patel presented on entrepreneurial cultivation in North Carolina to senior federal officials at the White House. In 2014, he received Elon Law’s inaugural Young Alumni Award.
Hannah Vaughan, director of the Elder Law Clinic at Elon Law, joined the faculty of Elon University School of Law as practitioner-in-residence for the Elder Law Clinic. She served as a Visiting Assistant Professor, directing the Elder Law Clinic, at Syracuse University College of Law during the 2011-2012 academic year. Previously, she was an attorney at Booth Harrington and Johns of NC PLLC, where she practiced Elder and Special Needs Law.
Gene Pridgen, past-president of the NCBA, and Patti Ramseur, a former chair of the NCBA Young Lawyers Division, serve as co-chairs of the Leadership Academy initiative.
