Ellis book is finalist for non-fiction prize

The latest book by Clyde Ellis, associate professor of history, is a finalist for this year’s non-fiction prize from the Oklahoma Center for the Book.

“A Dancing People: Powwow Culture on the Southern Plains,” has already been praised in reviews as “a landmark synthesis and defining moment in the modern era of Plains Indian studies,” and as “an extraordinary book that opens a door for understanding the modern era of Southern Plains Indians.”

The winning book will be announced March 13 in Oklahoma City.
