The Elon Women's Club Ultimate team played their first game of the weekend against Davidson on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
The Davidson team was the biggest competition Elon had faced, along with Wake Forest, at the 2014 regionals. The Davidson team was without many of their key players and the Elon team was able to come out on top with a score of 12-2.
The team then faced App State, winning again 13-3. The next morning, Elon swept the NC State team 11-5. Then, Elon played UNC-Chapel Hill, one of the best D-I schools in the area. The team unfortunately lost to UNC 13-5 but still played a strong game. The third game of the day matched Elon up with Wake Forest, the winners of the 2014 D-III regionals tournament and the third place winners of last year’s nationals. They had a small squad and Elon was able to beat them 9-6.
The last game of the tournament was against Duke; it was a hard-fought match but Elon unfortunately came up short, losing 10-8. Overall the team had a great weekend are are appreciative of everyone who came out to support.
