The associate professor of religious studies was named the winner of the fourth annual Book Prize awarded by the Southeastern Conference of the Association of Asian Studies for her book "Icons and Iconoclasm in Japanese Buddhism: Kūkai and Dōgen on the Art of Enlightenment."
Associate Professor Pamela Winfield in the Department of Religious Studies was named the winner of the fourth annual Book Prize awarded by the Southeastern Conference of the Association of Asian Studies for her 2013 book “Icons and Iconoclasm in Japanese Buddhism: Kūkai and Dōgen on the Art of Enlightenment.”
Winfield will travel to the University of Virginia in January 2015 to receive her award and present a paper at the annual SECAAS conference. In addition to teaching in the Department of Religious Studies, Winfield serves as the Coordinator of Asian Studies at Elon.
