Elon's Holly Andrews and Courtney Nyborg were named to the 2004 Southern Conference women's basketball all-conference team Monday, March 1. Details...
Andrews and Nyborg become the first women’s basketball players at Elon to earn recognition on the all-SoCon team since the Phoenix joined the league last summer. The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Andrews averaged nearly 19 points through 16 games this season before a Jan. 17 knee injury ended her career. The Hudson, N.C., native also averaged 19.3 points and 3.3 assists in nine conference games. She finished fourth on Elon’s career scoring list with 1,403 points.
Nyborg, a senior from Apex, N.C., leads the conference with 69 blocked shots. She also leads the league in field goal percentage (.586) and is seventh in rebounding with a 7.1 per game average.
Elon (16-11, 12-8 SoCon) will open play in the Southern Conference tournament in Charleston, S.C., at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, against East Tennessee State University.
