Elon Club Baseball went on the road for the first time this year to face off against the University of Virginia.
The teams split the double header with Elon winning the first game by a score of 8-4 while UVA came from behind to win the second game in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat Elon 8-7. Both teams had some had some costly errors throughout the day and those were the deciding factor in both games. Elon had their ace Sam Bonifant on the mound for game 1, while Michael Roberts was on the bump for game 2. The star pitching performance of the day was from sophomore Liam Moore as he threw 3 perfect innings of relief, striking out 7 of the 9 batters he faced. Although Elon put up a modest total of 16 runs through 2 games, there is much room for improvement at the plate as well as cleaning up some base running mistakes. Overall a decent weekend of baseball for Elon as they look to clean up their mistakes before heading to South Carolina for their big fall tournament next weekend.
