SGA approves activity fee budget

The Student Government Association approved a $ 578,760 Student Activity Fee Budget for the 2004-2005 academic year at their meeting on March 11, 2004. The SGA Budget Committee proposed the budget after hearing 70 individual student organization and university program budgets over the past two weeks.

SGA uses the same student FTE budget formula as the University to assure that allocations do not exceed receipts in the upcoming year. Any collections over the budgeted amounts are distributed to organizations through special requests during the year. The general breakdown of the budget for 2004-2005 is:

Anticipated receipts: $ 578,760 (4,134 FTE @ $ 140.00)

Media Board Allotment (16%): $ 92,600

Van Fund Allotment (8%): 46,300

Academic Honor Organization Allotment (2% after Media Board and Vans): $8,797.00

Contingency (5% after Media Board and Vans): $ 21, 553

Allocations to Student Organizations and University programs: $ 406,510

Individual allocation award letters for student organizations and university programs will be distributed to treasurers and program directors by April 9, 2004. Individual organization and program budget allocations will be posted on the SGA web site on or before April 9.
