Rena Zito, assistant professor of sociology, presented at the Southern Sociological Society’s annual conference in New Orleans. The research used nationally representative data on couples to assess whether access to extensive and varied social networks improves marital outcomes, particularly for economically disadvantaged women.
The presentation was titled: “Social Capital and Spousal Education: Marriage Market Returns to Social Participation.”
The presentation was co-authored by Mindy Vulpis (Ph.D. student at North Carolina State University).
