Seven faculty members who teach in Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, were recognized Thursday, April 22 with the college’s inaugural excellence awards. A selection committee chose the winners from a field of more than 50 nominees. Winners received a $500 monetary award, a plaque and a special frame and certificate to mark their selection.
Excellence in Teaching Award

- Bob Anderson, associate professor of political science
Excellence in Service/Leadership Award
- Maurice Levesque, associate professor of psychology
- Tim Peeples, assistant professor of English
Excellence in Scholarship Award
- Clyde Ellis, associate professor of history
- Toddie Peters, assistant professor of religious studies
- Joel Karty, assistant professor of chemistry
During the program in Whitley Auditorium, music majors Jon Rahilly and Ben Newsome, along with biology major Josh Miller, entertained and fascinated the audience with their marimba performance of Mark Ford’s “Stubernic.”
