Women’s Choice Award recognizes Elon University as a top 100 college/university in its Her Guide to America’s Best Colleges guide.
Other top schools include The University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago and Columbia University.
Women’s Choice Award made selections based off of the following criteria: depth of education, reputation, student to faculty ratio, campus safety and four-year graduation rate. Reputation was determined by female admission and enrollment rates, campus safety was determined by three years of campus arrest records, and depth of education was determined by a function of post-graduate to undergraduate degrees earned.
The rankings are based upon data from the US Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), along with survey data collected from more than 1,000 women nationwide on which criteria is most important when determining quality in a college or university. Women’s Choice Award then used weights from the survey to assign points to each of the five measures.
In addition to rankings and statistics, Her Guide to America’s Best College also offers editorial insight and advice for college-bound women. The printed version of the 2016/2017 guide will be available in the spring of 2016.
