The annual egg drop competition hosted by the Elon Society of Physics Students (SPS) attracted over 30 students to compete for a $50 Amazon gift card
The Elon Society of Physics Students (SPS) held their annual egg drop competition where students try to build a device that will allow an egg to safely land on the bottom floor the McMichael Science Building after being dropped from the stairs of the top floor. After partaking in free pizza, students designed their devices in 20 minutes using a handful of materials including plastic bags, duck tape, string, and bubble wrap. The winners of the competition, sophomore engineering major Julia Filloon and sophomore physics major Henry Davis, successfully landed their device in the fastest time, using the least amount of materials, to receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
The Elon Society of Physics Students meets every week during the semester for an activity or lecture, and of course free food. For more information about joining, please email dhan@elon.edu.
