Honoring Dr. King's legacy and the ongoing struggle for justice with dance, readings, prayers, and music from multiple traditions.
This year our MLK worship builds on the diversity theme for Winter Term and this year’s common reading. We invite all members of our community to join together and proclaim that “We Won’t Wait” in the ongoing struggle for justice in our world and inclusive community at Elon University. The multi-faith worship features readings and performances from students and staff, including dance, readings, prayers, and music from multiple traditions.
The service also reflects our learning together at the Truitt Center this Winter Term in both the “Who Matters to God?” series on Race, Privilege, and the Bible and the multi-faith teaching session “To Heal a Broken World” on the roots of social justice in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
The worship will include Professor Jane Wellford’s Sacred Dance Class, a monologue from student Najah Short, and a reflection on “#BlackLivesMatter as Lament” from Truitt Center staff affiliate Tiya Bolton.
All are welcome. The worship is at Noon on Thursday, January 21, in the Sacred Space of the Numen Lumen Pavilion.
