Stephanie Baker White, an assistant professor of public health studies, co-presented research in Washington, D.C., at a January 2016 meeting of the Society for Social Work and Research.
“‘I Can’t Breathe’: Hyper-Surveillance and Policing of Black Communities” was an interactive presentation of an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the topic of law enforcement surveillance practices.
The presentation also featured Christina Horsford, Charity S. Watkins and Kanisha Coleman, all of UNC Chapel Hill; and Whitney Sewell from Washington University in Saint Louis.
Horsford is an adjunct faculty member in Elon University’s Department of Human Service Studies.
